This site is funded by affiliate commission, and by nothing else. When a reader signs up with a bookmaker through a link here, I earn a share.
That is a conflict of interest. The only useful thing to do with one is to state it plainly, and then build the site so it cannot reach the ratings.
Some outbound links on this site are affiliate links. If you register or bet through one, I may receive a commission from the bookmaker. There is never an extra cost to you.
An affiliate link buys a place in the referral programme and nothing else. It does not buy a score, a position in a list, or a gentler reading of a slow payout.
Three rules follow. They are not good intentions — they are enforced in the software that runs this site.
Scores here are calculated from measurements rather than awarded. Every input has a fixed weight, and commission rate is not among them. The weights are published in full on the how I test page, so you can check what a score is actually made of.
No operator sees a score before it is published, and no placement on this site is for sale.
Every account tested here is funded with my own coins before anything is written about the book — including books that earn me nothing. If a bookmaker is worth measuring, it gets measured whether or not there is a deal behind it.
There are no press accounts, no pre-loaded balances, and no test funds supplied by an operator. How the tests themselves are run is described on the how I test page.
The score drops and the referral link comes off. The book keeps its page, its measurements and the reasons the score fell — it loses its “Visit” button. The page stays, with the measurements and the reasons the score fell, and is marked Review only — a state, not a link. There is nowhere else to send you: this page is the review.
This part is enforced rather than promised. A bookmaker marked review-only cannot output an affiliate link at all: the link is not hidden by the template, it is never generated. There is no path through the software that lets a review-only book emit a referral link, including by accident.
A missing “Visit” button means one of two things, and the difference matters.
“Review only” is a verdict. It means the book was measured, the result was bad enough to withdraw the referral link, and the reasons are on its page. That is the case described above.
“Not linked yet” is not a verdict. It means nobody has decided. The book has a record here because it is going to be tested, or because it has been tested and the question of a referral link has simply not been settled — and until it is settled, there is no link. Nothing has been found against the book, and nothing is being withheld from you.
Most bookmakers on this site start in that state and some stay there. A book with no commercial relationship behind it is not a warning; it is just a book I have not made a decision about.
The lock is the same in both cases. The referral link is blocked unless a book is explicitly marked as recommended — not blocked when it is marked review-only, but blocked by default, everywhere, until someone actively opens it. An undecided book cannot emit a referral link any more than a review-only one can. There is no state in which the software links to a bookmaker by accident.
The review stays.
If an affiliate relationship ends — because I dropped the book, because the operator dropped me, or because the programme closed — the measurements and the review remain published exactly as they are. The only thing that changes is the link.
Deleting a review because the commission stopped would make the public record a function of who is paying. That is the failure this site was rebuilt to get away from. Corrections get published; results do not get quietly removed.
