Reading this site sets no cookie and loads nothing from anyone else. That is not a promise, it is the current state — checked against the delivered pages on 27 August 2026. Data is processed only when you do something: subscribe, write to me, or leave a comment.

Server logs. The hosting provider records every request: IP address, time, the page requested, browser and operating system. The logs are kept for about a month and then deleted. They exist to keep the site running and to find attacks — legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Hosting. The site runs on Infomaniak Network SA, Geneva, Switzerland. Switzerland has an adequacy decision from the European Commission, so no further safeguards are required.
Cloudflare. All traffic passes through Cloudflare, Inc. as a proxy and content network. Your IP address reaches Cloudflare with every request; Cloudflare filters attacks and delivers the pages. It also rewrites email addresses on these pages so that address harvesters cannot read them — that is why a small script from cdn-cgi/ loads. Legal basis: legitimate interest in a site that stays available. Transfers to the USA are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Cloudflare’s standard contractual clauses.
No analytics. No Google Analytics, no Tag Manager, no Plausible, no Clicky, no affiliate pixel. Earlier versions of this site loaded some of these; none of them do now.
There is exactly one, and reading does not set it: “newsletter”, set when you subscribe or unsubscribe, holding your subscriber number and a token, valid for one year. It exists so the subscription and profile pages recognise you without asking again. You can delete it in your browser at any time; nothing on this site stops working.
Handled by the Newsletter plugin, running on this server — no external mailing service.
Stored: your email address, the name if you give one, the IP address you subscribed from, and the times of subscription and confirmation. The IP is kept as evidence that the subscription was genuine.
Confirmation is double opt-in: nothing is sent until you click the link in the confirmation email. Legal basis: your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw it at any time through the unsubscribe link in every email; the record is then deleted. There is no click or open tracking — it was switched off on 27 August 2026.
Stored: name, email address, subject and message — both in this website’s database (through the Flamingo plugin) and in my mailbox. Legal basis: legitimate interest in answering, Art. 6(1)(f), or the steps before a contract where that applies. Kept as long as the exchange may still matter, and deleted afterwards.
There are none: commenting is switched off across this site, so no comment data is collected and nothing is sent to a spam-filtering service. Existing comments on older community posts stay visible as part of the record.
Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability — Art. 15 to 21 GDPR. One email to the address above is enough, and you do not have to give a reason.
You can also complain to a supervisory authority. For this site that is the Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC), Malta — or the authority where you live.
This site is for adults: you must be 18, or the legal gambling age where you are, whichever is higher. I do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe I have, write to me and it will be deleted.
When something on this site starts or stops processing data, this page changes with it, and the date below moves. The last change removed claims about tracking that no longer happened.
