Thunderpick Sportsbook Review

Last updated:

01/03/2024

Thunderpick is a crypto gambling site that focuses primarily on eSports betting. It launched its operations in 2017, initially as a gaming hub, and then opened its sportsbook section a year later. In 2021, it transitioned to becoming a fully crypto-powered platform. And it now boasts a decent standing in the eSports landscape, advertising itself as the perfect place for Volarant and CS: GO wagering.

Curacao-based Paloma Media B.V. owns and operates this site, a company with a registered Curacao address on Kaya Richard J. Beaujon Z/N, running its business as a private limited liability entity. From what we can tell, Thunderpick is Paloma’s only gambling brand, and it is one that this operator runs under an eGaming Curacao license.

The Thunderpick team is decently active on social media, especially on Twitter, where it markets its partnership agreements, like its sponsorship deal with the 2023 Valorant World Champions – Evil Geniuses, and posts various promo giveaways there. The Thunderpick website has an interface viewable in eight languages, accepts eleven cryptos, lists loads of loyalty benefits, plus varied community promos, and features an affiliate scheme that promises up to a 30% revenue share.

Thunderpick Bonus Offers

While the Thunderpick crypto sportsbook does not have the most robust and diverse promo page we have ever seen, we would call this brand above average in the promotions department, as it has enough to supply decent amounts of on-the-house betting for anyone who selects it as its gambling home.

Thunderpick Bonus Offers

Thunderpick Welcome Bonus

eSports lovers will be happy to know that Thunderpick looks to make all fans of eSports betting feel warmly welcomed here via a 100% up to €600 upon account creation promotion. Here, we have a deal that requires a minimum qualifying deposit of €20 and one that asks for site users to activate this offer within thirty days after they make their initial deposit. After that period elapses, this bonus shall expire. It comes with a 10x rollover that must get fulfilled within a month, and know – Thunderpick can choose to exclude you from this offer if they see fit, for whatever reason. That rests solely on their discretion.

Remember that canceled bets and cashouts contribute nothing toward rollover completion. Lost wagers do so with 100%.

Thunderpick Free Bets

There are no free bets at Thunderpick.

Thunderpick VIP/Loyalty Program

Thunderpick tries to make frequent platform users happy by implementing two loyalty programs or a traditional point-collecting one and an invite-only system. They are explained below.

VIP Program

Thunderpick proclaims that the highest-betting and longest-playing Thunderpick bettors will get treated to a premium experience here through an invite-only VIP Club that will supply personalized gifts and bonuses, priority withdrawals, higher betting limits, no fees, a dedicated account manager, and more. There are no conditions listed on how you can join this elite society. The site page only encourages you to keep wagering, and when they see that you are super active for longer periods, they will notify you that you have gotten into their VIP Club.

Thunderpick VIP Program

Loyalty Program

Thunderpick Ranks is a tiered loyalty system created to reward user activity on this platform. Five levels exist in this scheme. They start at Bronze, ending at Challenger. Between these, you have Silver, Gold, and Diamond. Each of these tiers then further divides into divisions based on activity level, indicated by Roman numerals from V (lowest) to I (highest). Of course, since the Challenger tier is the last one. It is the highest, reserved for the ten most active users. These standings get updated daily, meaning multiple promotions and demotions happen on this list every twenty-four hours.

To advance to a higher rank, you must accumulate RPs, or Rank Points, by placing bets (100 RP for every 1€), completing tasks, or inviting friends onto the site. The RP system operates with a thirty-day settling period. Hence, where RP decay occurs, recalculating the user’s rank is based on the last 30 days’ RP accumulation.

The perks inside his program’s higher ranks include giveaways, lower fees, various prizes, etc. In writing, the Thunderpick website offered weekly giveaways for each rank tier. Also, users can earn RPs by adding thunderpick.io to their Steam profile name when playing games on the platform.

Other Thunderpick Bonuses

One thing to know about this crypto sports betting page’s promo side is that it often lists giveaways. We already touched above that these can be part of the Rank System, but you can also find similar offers on this brand’s social media profiles.

Know that you can also snag monthly gift cards here, and if you are among the lucky one hundred and fifty to two hundred site users who have been chosen to get such a card, you will get notified of this by mail.

You also have betting races here where only wagers of sporting and eSports events boasting odds above 1.3 qualify, and those with coefficients of over 20.00 do not get counted above the promo’s 20.00 limit. For eSports and sports bet, the participating race point formula is as follow: wager amount × odds × category modifier.

Also, the affiliate system in place at Thunderpick markets an up to 30% revenue share, and this scheme can earn you rank points on your referrals’ initial deposits.

Thunderpick Design & UX

Visually, Thunderpick looks like your modern Bitcoin gambling site. It has the famed dull blue palette and the typical home page organizational structure. However, we do not like that event listing happens in a central vertical stack here, and the sports categories are accessible as different-colored icons in a side vertical panel. When you click one, let us say soccer, it pulls out a menu with available leagues that you have to scroll. If you move your cursor away from it, it disappears.

If you resize the desktop browser window, the categories move to the top of the page and supply better navigation. At full screen, you have three general tabs. These are All events, Upcoming matches, and Live ones. The figures there change as you flip through different category pages. You also get a search field at the top of the betting area for quick locations of events you may be interested in.

Overall, the Thunderpick sportsbook layout works, but we found it slowed us down a bit, as it is not as intuitive as we wished. Or maybe we have just gotten too conditioned to what other sites are serving up.

Nevertheless, we still found it annoying here that we had to click the market figure to open an event in the main sportsbook area. Still, we must state that we love the visual alerts for odds changes in the bet slip window.

Thunderpick Design

Thunderpick Sports

There are only events from twenty sports to choose from here and few niche options. We would call Bandy, Squash, and Badminton the least popular choices from the batch of twenty here. The rest are your standard options, referring to soccer, basketball, baseball, American football, Aussie rules, handball, tennis, and so on.

You can also make political wagers here, and there is an Others section, but both were empty when we reviewed this hub.

Thunderpick Betting Markets

The number of available betting markets here is on par with the industry standard concerning higher-end online sportsbooks. That means that, for instance, for soccer, without question, the most popular betting choice around, you can bet on match outcomes, halves, totals, and handicap wagers. So, you can bet on goal handicaps, over/under totals, how many corners each team will get, and so on.

From the few upcoming soccer matches we checked out on this Internet bookie, we did not see any player props available, and we noticed that almost all matches featured a similar number of markets regardless of their league. Thus, during our visit, EPL games offered around the same wagering choices as matches from the Chinese Super League.

Since we are fans of MMA, we checked out the combat sports tab and were disappointed when we saw that no side markets were available for boxing and UFC fights. From what we saw, the basketball and American football markets were decent, but again, no player props.

In-Play Betting & Live Betting

Yes, it is available at an acceptable rate of events, usually between twenty and fifty sports and more than a dozen eSports. We love the live odd changes displayed here, as featured odds boxes light up red or green depending on how they have been modified. When going up, they glow green, and when falling, they turn red.

Thunderpick Esports Live Betting

Thunderpick Odds

Given that it is hard to find a top odds-comparer website that stacks up the event odds on the sector’s most famous virtual sportsbooks, we opened the Duelbits, Stake, and BC.Game sports betting pages. Then we looked at the Serie A and EPL odds on these sites, stacking them up with those on Thunderpick. Naturally, only slight differences were present, but based on our examination, we concluded that the odds up on Thunderpick were extremely similar to those at Stake and a tad better than the ones at BC.Game and Duelbits.

The odds formats on hand at Thunderpick are multiplier, fractional, decimal, and American. You can change who you can view the presented odds from inside the settings page inside your account profile.

Thunderpick Live Streaming

There are no sports streams at Thunderpick, but there are eSports ones.

Thunderpick Mobile App

You will not find a Thunderpick mobile app, but the mobile iteration of the Thunderpick website works decently enough on smartphones and tablets. You have a bottom quick access bar where you can find your bet slip and a hamburger icon that pulls out the main site menu.

What we did not like about the Thunderpick mobile version is that everything is a bit too big and in your face. We believe the overall experience for remote betting here would be better if things get tightened up so that more elements would be viewable on a smaller screen at once. In terms of load times, we would have liked them to be a bit better, but they were not slow. Hence, we will not complain about them as they fell in the acceptable range.

Thunderpick Customer Service

Okay, so we had a problem with the Thunderpick live chat. We opened this window using the headset icon in the bottom right corner of our desktop browser and got linked with a support agent after about a minute’s wait. The first person we spoke to was quick with his replies. But we moved away to a different tab to examine something else, and when we went back to the one with the live chat window open, we saw that it had been closed. The representative supplied some decent info in this window, and there was no option to retrieve this information. We used the live chat again, and the same thing happened. When we moved away for a second, the agent would disconnect due to unresponsiveness, and the conversation would disappear, leaving all correspondence lost.

We complained about this and got told that is how things work here, that this was not the agents’ fault. When we asked that they send responses to our questions in this window to our email, they failed to do so despite promises made. One representative said we should check out the FAQ page, as they primarily copy the info from there to send to clients.

The support email of this hub is [email protected]. Our message sent to it received a reply in about an hour during standard European working hours, and it was anything but stellar.

The Thunderpick FAQ page does have some handy Rank and bonus info, but nothing to brag about. In general, it is pretty bare.

How to Register at Thunderpick

Thunderpick Payment Methods

You can utilize the following coins at Thunderpick: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Litecoin, Binance Coin, Cardano, Tether, Tron, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash, and USD Coin.

All deposits and withdrawals here are fee-free. And depending on the crypto chosen, the number of confirmations required will differ. All withdrawals will incur a waiting period of five to thirty minutes, and the minimum withdrawal limit for most of the coins allowed stands at around $10. But for Bitcoin, it is in the $12 to $13 range, and the Ethereum one is usually the highest, around $16. No deposit maximum cap has been put in place on this site, so you can deposit as much as your heart desires. Nevertheless, the deposit minimums vary widely. For Bitcoin, the lowest depositable amount is 0.00011 BTC. For Ethereum, it is 0.011 ETH, and for Litecoin, it has been set at 0.0177 LTC. By the time this review finds you, the figures may be different.

If you have no cryptos in your wallet, you can buy some quickly by going over to the Buy Crypto tab in your cashier window, where you will get presented with links to MoonPay, Binance, Coinbase, Paxful, Crypto Voucher, and Coingate. You can also use Gift Card codes to supplement your account funds at Thunderpick.

KYC is in play here, and the support staff said there are no fixed rules concerning when you will get asked to go through this process. When they deem it necessary, they will send you a message requesting a government-issued ID, proof of residency, or both. They may even hit you with a question regarding your account activity, and if you do not provide your required info, the site staff has the power to terminate your account.

We should also point out that there are varied max weekly limits here depending on the crypto uses, ranging from $5,000 to $50,000. But there is a total withdrawal limit of $50,000 at Thunderpick, which cannot be bypassed by using different coins for multiple payout requests.

Note the x1 deposit rollover on this platform.

Is Thunderpick Safe?

Based on our examination, Thunderpick has a Cloudflare server certificate using the established TLS 1.3, AES_128, and X25519 encryption and authentication protocols. The platform has a data protection officer you can contact at [email protected], and it adheres to the General Data Protection Regulation. Its privacy policy is not extensive but is generally acceptable. The site profile functions allow you to set up 2FA and keep track of all your bet and transaction activity. There are no responsible gambling measures available inside one’s account. Yet, be aware that self-exclusion is possible by contacting the support staff.

Reviews from this brand are so-so on user treatment from what we can tell, but we would still say that this is a safe and secure crypto sportsbook.

Thunderpick Gaming License

Active from almost the inception of the global online casino industry (1996), eGaming Curacao is the most reputable of the four Curacao master license holders, and it is the regulator that licenses and oversees the Thunderpick sports betting website.

Thunderpick Review Conclusion

There are many things to like about this online sportsbook. It has a somewhat distinctive vibe, a specific interface, and multiple loyalty benefits. Still, concerning UX design, some of the higher-end competitors have better bet slip functionalities than this platform, and they have an overall more intuitive UX design. There are several UI-related problems we noticed with this hub. For instance, once we went to the blog section, clicking the logo in the top left did not bring us back to the home page. It only returned us to the main blog one. Multiple little things like this at Thunderpick cause minor frustrations for no reason.

When we analyzed this platform, it did not have a robust selection of sports-related promos. Yet, looking into its blog history, we see that it often runs combo boosts and insurance, especially for eSports events. As noted throughout this review, Thunderpick is also big on supplying loyalty rewards and offers quality odds.

Our support experience here was not the best, and this hub has no sports streams, no dynamic play-by-play tracker feature, poor live stats, no player proüs, and more. Therefore, there is loads of room for improvement. Still, if you are an eSports fanatic, this hub may better suit your needs as it tries to tailor its offer to that side of the aisle.

Pros

Good odds Dual loyalty system Low payment limits Quality eSports pick

Cons

Poor customer support Multiple minor UX issues Weak real-time event info Many users have reported KYC problems
